Welcome! Today is Day 2 of the Narcissistically Speaking Bible Study “5 Lies Christian Women Believe That Make Them Vulnerable to Narcissistic Men.” Today, we will focus on Lie #2 “If He Proclaims to be a Believer, He Is.”
Many Christian women believe that if a man claims to be a Christian, he must be a good person and a trustworthy partner. However, this is not always the case. In fact, narcissistic men often use religion as a way to manipulate and control women. They may use scripture to justify their abusive behavior or demand that their partners submit to them.
It’s important to remember that being a Christian is not just about proclaiming your faith or attending church. It’s about living a life that reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ, such as love, compassion, humility, and selflessness. A man who proclaims to be a Believer but does not demonstrate these qualities may not be a true Christian.

So how can you tell if a man’s faith is genuine? Here are some signs to look for:
1. He prioritizes his relationship with God. A true Christian will prioritize their relationship with God above all else. They will spend time reading the Bible, praying, and attending church to grow in their faith.
2. He demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit. The Bible teaches that the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A man who is truly living out his faith will demonstrate these qualities in his interactions with others.
We’ll talk further about this one in today’s video.

3. He is accountable to others in his faith community. A true Christian recognizes the importance of being part of a community of Believers and being accountable to others for their actions. He will seek out mentors, pastors, and other Christian men to provide guidance and support.
4. He respects and honors women. A man who is living out his faith will treat women with respect and honor, recognizing that they are made in the image of God and deserving of dignity and care.
5. He takes responsibility for his actions. A true Christian will take responsibility for his actions and seek forgiveness when he falls short. He will not blame others or make excuses for his behavior.
If a man proclaims to be a Believer but does not demonstrate these qualities, it may be a red flag that he is not truly living out his faith. As Christian women, it’s important to be discerning and not be swayed by empty proclamations of faith. Instead, we must connect with a man who is truly living out his faith and who will love and respect us as God intended.
